Go check out a guest post I made on my school’s literary magazine’s blog!

Over the past few years, there’s a boom in the publishing industry for one specific genre: Young Adult literature (typically stylized as YA). Walk into any Barnes & Noble and you can see the huge displays, rows of shelves dedicated just to this one genre. As a writer, it’s been interesting to see this from […]

New Year, New Blog

update wallpaper
I meant to do this in January but time got away from me. Oops!

Last year was a tough year for me. I didn’t get as much writing done, especially the last half, and it really affected my mood. Not to mention, I lost complete and utter motivation for my novel. I tried to work on it only to find more problems than I could handle: plot holes, stereotypes, tropes… The list goes on and on. All of this led to me yelling, “Screw it!” and tossing my novel into the maybe later list. Even after I’d given it a few months, there wasn’t a creative spark. My novel was effectively dead.

But great news! I’ve made a turnaround this year and have started working on it again. It doesn’t have a name yet, but I’m very excited to start sharing more things about it on my blog as I go along. Keep your eyes out for updates!

I’ve also made some changes to my blog. With the new year comes a new theme and new content. I’ll try to update every two weeks or so, whether it’s novel-related, a new short story or poetry. Hope you like what I have in store!

From the other side… of this screen.

Bad jokes aside, I’m finally, officially, 100% back. A lot of my absence had to do with a ridiculous flight home that resulted in lost luggage. Because of this, I had none of the writing I’d done during my vacation and I didn’t want to just throw something on here for the sake of maintaining my schedule.

Thankfully, my luggage has since arrived and been unpacked, so I now can share with you beautiful pictures of my trip and the writing that goes with it.

I hope you’ll enjoy it 🙂

I’m back!

Hello! So I’m back from my vacation and now I’ll hopefully stick to my schedule. I have plenty to tell you and photos to share. Expect a post sometime next week on my trip. It’s a long and ridiculous story dealing with the horrendously long delays and wonderful times spent in the country of Ireland. Until then 🙂

So, as you may have noticed, I haven’t been keeping up with my schedule lately. There’s good reason for this. I’ve been busy attending family graduations and preparing for vacation with the family. Next week, I’ll officially be going on hiatus for a bit as I’ll be on aforementioned vacation with the family. When I get back though, my schedule should be back to normal(ish). Until then, keep on blogging/writing/whatever your hobby might be. 🙂

I’m excited to announce I’m participating in Worldbuilding June!

For those of you who don’t know, Worldbuilding June functions in the same way as National Novel Writing Month. The goal is to create a world in just thirty days! It doesn’t have to be complete and you don’t have to go too in-depth if you don’t want to, but it’s been very helpful in fleshing out the world for my novel. The prompts focus on the usual things such as geography and races, but also throw in cultures, architecture and much more.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be posting previews of what I’m writing. And if you decide you want to give it a try, here’s the link to the worldbuilding blog responsible for this madness.

Now that I’ve quickly gone over that, here’s a preview at the map for my country. I made it using this free website. Warning: it does require you to make an account, but it’s soooo worth it!

I’m really excited to start working on my novel again, now that school is over. I hope to post more previews and other things as time goes on and hopefully I’ll inspire some of you too!

Semester is Over!

Hey guys! In case you’re wondering why I didn’t post today, it’s because my semester just finished. As a result, I now have to move out of my on-campus apartment, so I’ve been packing and cleaning. If I have the time, I might post this weekend. If not, I hope you guys have a great weekend and I’ll be back Monday!

March Update

I haven’t abandoned this blog, I promise! I’m alive, but school has definitely cut down on my writing time. Hopefully I’ll be able to write more come spring break (only a couple more weeks!). Anyway, just wanted to let you all know.
